Bariatric (Gastric Bypass) Surgery. Crozer offers a comprehensive bariatric surgery program for patients who suffer from severe obesity. In addition to both open and laparoscopic surgery options, the program includes counseling and support groups, nutrition counseling and a specialized exercise program.
Burn Surgery. Burn surgeons provide comprehensive care for patients who have experienced major burns or inhalation injuries. Advanced services include the use of artificial skin to provide immediate wound closure as well as the use of cultured cell transplantation, or cloning of a patient’s skin. The Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center is the only burn facility in suburban Philadelphia that provides all of the services needed to meet the needs of burn patients and their families within a single unit.
Cardiac Surgery. Cardiac surgeons treat conditions of the heart, major vessels and lungs. Crozer offers advanced expertise in cardiac surgery. The first facility in Delaware County to offer open heart surgery, Crozer has been home to more than 3,000 of these surgeries. Crozer cardiac surgeons offer “off-pump” coronary artery bypass surgeries.
Colon/Rectal Surgery. The colorectal surgeon treats diseases and performs surgery of the colon and rectum, including treatment for ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, hemorrhoids and chronic rectal conditions.
Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery. Ear, nose and throat (also known as ENT or otolaryngology) surgeons at Crozer specialize in treatment and surgery of the ear, nose and throat. Surgeons treat sinusitis, voice problems, head/neck cancers, ear disorders and more in both adults and children.
General Surgery. General surgeons at Crozer have expertise in a wide variety of surgical procedures, including those related to the stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas and intestines as well as hernia, thyroid and breast conditions.
Gynecologic Surgery. Crozer can accommodate and performs all surgeries used in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic illness. The very latest diagnostic and therapeutic tools are available, including operative hysteroscopic, and laparoscopic procedures. In addition, special and unique surgical techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of fertility-related issues and gynecologic malignancies are offered by our division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Division of Gynecologic Oncology respectively. Even special procedures to diagnose genetic disorders on a fetus during early pregnancy are offered at Crozer by our Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Gynecologic Oncology Surgery. Crozer offers a gynecologic oncologists with expertise to provide minimally invasive surgeries for gynecologic cancers, when necessary. Surgery is traditionally partnered with radiation and/or chemotherapy to provide comprehensive treatment for patients.
Neurosurgery. Neurosurgeons perform surgery on the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Among the disorders Crozer neurosurgeons commonly care for are spinal disc disease or arthritis, brain tumors or stroke, and peripheral nerve injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome or ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow.
Ophthalmic Surgery. Ophthalmologists and retinal surgeons diagnose and treat injuries and diseases of the eye, such as cataracts and glaucoma.
Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery. Oral surgery includes procedures related to the mouth and jaw, including tooth extraction and facial reconstructions after traumas or oral cancer.
Orthopedic Surgery. Orthopedic surgeons specialize in the treatment or correction of damage or deformities to the skeletal system, which includes the bones, joints, ligaments and tendons. Crozer surgeons excel in all orthopedic procedures, performing a full-range of surgeries — including total joint, shoulder and long bone. Crozer patients get comprehensive treatment through the Crozer-Keystone Human Motion Institute, which encompasses the orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and athletic training programs.
Pediatric Surgery. Crozer surgeons provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients, ranging from such general procedures as appendectomies, hernia surgeries and gall bladder surgeries to burn scar revisions and plastic surgeries. Orthopedic surgeons are available to treat injuries occurring from athletics, accidents or other activities. Otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists) offer surgical and non-surgical treatment of a range of hearing, sinus, throat and other related disorders. Common procedures include tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. If an inpatient stay is required following a surgical procedure, children are cared for in the welcoming surroundings of the Pediatrics Unit.
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Plastic and reconstructive surgeons specialize in procedures that restore features after an injury as well as surgery to improve appearance. Procedures performed at Crozer include removal of tumors as well as facelift, liposuction abdominoplasty and breast enhancement/reduction.
Podiatric Surgery. Podiatric surgeons correct diseases, injuries and defects of the foot. Common procedures include fore-foot surgeries such as bunion correction, neuroma removals (benign nerve growth) and heel spur syndrome. Crozer surgeons also perform rear-foot and ankle surgeries.
Urologic Surgery. Urologic surgeons at Crozer perform surgery of the kidneys, urinary tract and genital organs. These surgeons also offer treatment for benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, kidney, bladder, testicle and penis. Both open and laparascopic surgical techniques are available. Crozer urologic surgeons also offer minimally invasive procedures to treat kidney stones, such as shock wave lithotripsy and laser treatments. In addition, Crozer urologic surgeons work with radiation oncologists to offer brachytherapy, or the use of radioactive seed implants to deliver radiation directly to a tumor.
Urologic Oncology Surgery: Crozer offers a surgical oncologist who has additional training and experience in the surgical treatment of cancers located in the prostate, kidney, bladder and testicle. Surgeries to treat these cancers include brachytherapy, radical surgery and organ-sparing techniques such as cryoablation. Both open and laparoscopic surgical techniques are available.
Trauma Surgery. Trauma surgeons are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to treat patients who have experienced extensive injuries. In addition to experience in this dedicated specialty, Crozer’s trauma surgeons also have expertise in intensive care management of the injured patient. The Crozer Regional Trauma Center, accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, is the only trauma center in Delaware County.
Vascular Surgery. Vascular surgeons specialize in the treatment of diseases and blockages in arteries and veins throughout the body, such as abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral vascular disease and vein disorders. Crozer’s vascular surgeons also have expertise in endovascular surgery. Angioplasty and stenting are also used to treat carotid arteries that previously might have required an open operation. Wound management services are also available.
