Surgery at DCMH

To find a DCMH surgeon that's right for you, call 1-800-CK-HEALTH.

Expertise and experience count when you are placing your life in your surgeon's hands. Throughout the history of Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH), tens of thousands of people have trusted the hospital's highly skilled surgeons for their inpatient and outpatient surgery needs. DCMH surgical teams have decades of experience and are specialists in a full range of inpatient and outpatient procedures, from general surgery to advanced laparoscopic and laser surgeries.

DCMH staff surgeons are board certified and assisted by perioperative registered nurses, many of whom are Certified Operating Room Nurses. Other members of your surgical team include anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technicians and physician assistants. The entire surgical team works together constantly to offer patients individualized treatment before, during and after surgery.

The Most Advanced Technology

Patients come from all over to receive care at DCMH. The hospital's surgical suites not only are equipped with the most advanced technology to deliver anesthesia and monitor patients throughout their surgical experience, but also are home to state-of-the-art video, laparoscopic and laser equipment. Laparoscopic technology enables surgeons to directly examine the abdominal organs without major abdominal surgery. Lasers used at DCMH make possible minimally invasive procedures that promote faster recovery.

Anesthesia Tailored to Your Needs

Anesthesiologists are key members of you surgical team. DCMH anesthesiologists have years of experience with anesthetic agents and recognize that each patient has a unique set of medical requirements. As a result of this patient-centered approach to care, every DCMH patient meets with an anesthesiologist before surgery to discuss his or her medical history and a plan of care. This discussion enables the anesthesiologist to tailor the anesthetic and pain management techniques to each patient's specific needs. DCMH anesthesiologists and staff work very closely with patients on pain management. For individuals undergoing certain surgical procedures, pain management modalities are very much under his or her control.

Your Inpatient Surgical Experience

DCMH is equipped with six state-of-the-art inpatient surgical suites for your convenience and care. Upon arrival for surgery, you are welcomed in the AM Admission Unit, where a nurse completes your assessment prior to preparation for surgery. Following surgery, those who require a hospital stay are settled in a room by our caring staff. It is at this time that family and friends may visit.
