Your Outpatient Surgical Experience
Patients who undergo surgery often recover faster and get back to their normal routine sooner when they are at home surrounded by family and friends. That is why outpatient surgery is becoming a preferred option for many procedures.
The DCMH outpatient SurgiCenter is equipped with four operating rooms. The SurgiCenter also houses a short procedure unit for those minor cases that do not require a full surgical suite. Unlike other outpatient surgical facilities, the SurgiCenter is not a free standing site, but instead is housed within the hospital. Constant access to DCMH's complete teams of experts and advanced technology is especially important to patients who require additional care.
The night before surgery, a DCMH nurse calls patients to answer questions and review instructions. Upon arrival at the hospital, you can enter at the convenient patient drop-off area outside the Medical Office Building. Loved ones who accompany patients are welcome to wait in the SurgiCenter's comfortable, homelike surroundings.
From the moment you arrive in the SurgiCenter, on the sixth floor of DCMH's Medical Office Building, you are treated with respect and compassion. In the preoperative area of the center, the surgical team springs into action as the nurse and anesthesiologists begin care. Following the surgery, you are taken to recovery. Here, you receive constant monitoring as you prepare to return home. And once at home our surgeons are on-call 24 hours a day, should you need a little extra support.
