Pulmonary rehabilitation is located at the Healthplex® Sports Club. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a safe and effective way to help the participant feel better, get stronger, reduce stress and improve the quality of daily living. A patient can benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation if they have experienced any of the following:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Asthma
- Emphysema
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Other pulmonary diseases
How Does Pulmonary Rehabilitation Work?
Pulmonary rehabilitation has two major components: exercise training and education. Rehabilitation participants are closely supervised and monitored in individualized exercise sessions. Exercise training strengthens muscles, improves stamina and teaches the participant how to exercise safely with less breathing effort. Education provides information about lung conditions and ways to reduce the risk of future lung problems. The rehab team teaches the participant how to cope with lung problems and how to be less fearful about the future.
How Much Does Pulmonary Rehabilitation Cost?
Pulmonary rehabilitation services are covered by most insurance plans and by Medicare.
How Do I Get Started?
Pulmonary rehabilitation requires a referral from a physician. Talk to your physician to determine if you can benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation.
