Evaluation Procedures
Following arrival at the Sleep Disorders Center, you will be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire identifying the sleep problem. You will then be seen by one of the Center's physicians for a comprehensive sleep history, medical history, physical examination, and review of the questionnaire.
For certain problems during the initial evaluation, the patient also will be seen by a member of the Sleep Disorders Center's psychological staff. On the basis of the clinical impression, a program is then outlined. This may involve a treatment technique or further testing.
Psychological testing, sleep testing or keeping a detailed sleep diary is often recommended. Sleep testing is typically carried out in the laboratory of the Sleep Disorders Center.
Technologists are present throughout the night to monitor a variety of physiological parameters. You will be observed using ultra low-light video cameras and polygraphic recording. Sleep staging, breathing, cardiac activity, and neuromuscular variables are recorded.
Referral Information
Patients can contact the Sleep Disorders Center for an appointment by calling 610-595-6272.
