Professional credentials for electroneurodiagnostic technologists are awarded for successful completion of national board examinations. If the examination process has both a written and an oral exam, both exams must be completed before the credentials may be used.
Students are required to take the American Board of Registration of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET) EEG boards Part I Written Examination. Exam fees are paid by the students and submitted to ABRET prior to established deadlines. Students must meet application deadlines while enrolled in the program. Students are encouraged to complete the Part II Oral examination to become registered in EEG, after graduation.

This credential is awarded by The American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists, Inc. (ABRET). It indicates that the holder has been examined in the technical aspects of Electroencephalography and on the basis of documented training and experience, demonstrated competence, and subject to the Code of Ethics of this Board, has been enrolled in its Registry of Electroencephalographic Technologists.To be awarded this credential, the individual must pass both a written and an oral examination called the "Registration Examination for Electroencephalographic Technologists Part I Written and Part II Oral". Successful completion of this examination is recommended to work in the field.

R. EP T®
for registry in evoked potentials
This credential is awarded by The American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists, Inc. (ABRET). It indicates that the holder has been examined in the technical aspect of evoked potentials and on the basis of documented training and experience is being awarded a certificate of competency in the subspecialty of evoked potentials.
To be awarded this credential, the individual must pass a written and oral examination called the "Registration Examination for Evoked Potential Technologists Part I Written and Part II Oral". Successful completion of this examination is recommended to work in the field.

RPSGT®
for registry in polysomnography
This credential is awarded by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). It indicates that the holder has been examined and has demonstrated competence in all technical aspects of Polysomnography, has met the requirements of the Association of Polysomnographic Technologists necessary for patient care and safety, and is enrolled as a member in good standing in the Registry of Polysomnographic Technologists. To be awarded this credential, the individual must pass a written examination called the "Comprehensive Registry Examination for Polysomnographic Technologists". Successful completion of this examination is recommended to work in the field of Polysomnography.
In order to qualify to sit for this exam, the individual must have 18 months paid clinical experience OR 12 months paid clinical and a credential in a health-related field accepted by the BRPT™ OR 6 months paid clinical experience after graduation from a program with special recognition in polysomnography, as accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), AND be currently certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or its equivalent You can explore the PSG exam information at BRPT™'s web site. www.brpt.org
CNIM® for a certificate in neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring
This credential is awarded by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists , Inc. (ABRET). It indicates that the holder has met the standards for certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring, and is authorized to use the designation "CNIM" subject to compliance with the Code of Ethics, rules, policies and procedures, and standards of practice of the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists , Inc.
To be awarded this credential, the individual must pass a written examination called the "Certification Examination in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring". Successful completion of this examination is recommended to work in the field.

R. NCST.®
for registry in nerve conduction studies
This credential is awarded by the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) and indicates that the holder has been examined in the technical and theoretical aspects of nerve conduction studies and has successfully completed and passed all of the requirements stipulated by the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists National Examination Committee.
To be awarded this credential, the individual must pass both a written and an oral examination called the "AAET's National Registry Examination for Nerve Conduction Studies". Successful completion of this examination is recommended to work in the field.
In order to qualify to sit for this exam, the individual must successfully complete a two-year college program in END technology or equivalent of two years of college level education and six months of practical training in Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS).
