FAQs

Q: How long is the internship program?
A: One year.

Q: How many internship positions are there per year?
A: 16.

Q: What is the design of the internship program?
A:
Our internship, which fulfills the requirements of the American Osteopathic Association, combines the benefits of the traditional rotating osteopathic internship with the opportunity to take many specialized elective rotations (e.g., adolescent psychology, trauma surgery and radiation oncology). The latter two rotations earned our program special commendations from the American Osteopathic Association.

Q: How is the training year divided?
A: The training year is divided into 13 four-week rotations. Five required rotations include family practice, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and emergency medicine. The remaining time consists of service obligations, elective rotations and two weeks of vacation.

Q: What are some of the technologies available to interns for patient treatment?
A: The Crozer-Keystone Health System employs advanced technologies in the treatment of our patients. For example, our interns' radiation oncology training takes place at DCMH's Delaware County Regional Cancer Center, where a dual energy linear accelerator and a CT scan simulator - one of only several of its kind in the region - are among the advanced technologies that our attending physicians and interns can use to treat cancer patients. PET and PET/CT are available on all campuses.

Q: Are there options for those interested in pursuing a residency in internal medicine or family practice?
A: Yes. Two other internships tracked to those specialties are approved within CKHS.

Q: If I would like more information about the Crozer-Keystone Osteopathic Rotating Internship, whom should I contact?
A: Dr. James E. McHugh, Director, Osteopathic Medical Education
