Osteoporosis Services

Springfield Hospital offers bone densitometry testing. Called the Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scan, this effective tool is used to determine bone mineral density. The DEXA scan is the one accepted means of detecting osteoporosis as well as determining whether the current therapy being used is working. The test takes X-rays of the spine and hip, is painless and produces reliable results.

Certain criteria must be met in order to have a DEXA scan. A referral from your physician is required. To schedule an appointment, or for more information, please call 610-328-8797.
