This June, the Healthplex® Sports Club will begin a series of self-defense and awareness seminars empowering women to defend themselves in various, everyday settings.
Part one of the series gives women a basic insight on becoming more aware of one’s surroundings on the street, on the phone, at local ATM machines, and at home. The class, taught by Healthplex® karate instructor Paul Cheng, will also teach women about basic escape techniques and appropriate strikes to use if attacked.
The first session will be held on Tuesday, June 19 from 6-8 p.m. in Studio 2 at the Healthplex®, located on 194 W. Sproul Road in Springfield, Pa. The cost is $20 for members and $35 for non-members. Comfortable clothing and athletic shoes are recommended. Dates and times for parts two and three will be determined at a later date.
For more information on this program or to register, contact Beth McNeely at 610-328-8868 or visit www.healthplex.net for more information.
