Crozer Burn Center Re-Verification Site Survey: November 6-7, 2019

Sent on behalf of Marketing and Corporate Communications

Our Crozer Burn team welcomed American Burn Association (ABA) site reviewers on Wednesday, Nov. 6 for their two-day re-verification survey.

Earning the three-year re-verification requires an on-site visit and assessment of the Burn Center’s capacity to deliver the best possible care to its patients - not only those with burns but also others with a variety of skin injuries and diseases.

Burn Center verification provides a true mark of distinction for a burn center. It is an indicator to government, third-party payers, patients and their families, and accreditation organizations that the center provides high-quality patient care to burn patients from the time of injury through rehabilitation.

ABA site reviewers Lucy Wibbenmeyer, M.D., FACS, Clinical Professor of Surgery, Program Director of Burn Fellowship, and Burn Center Staff Surgeon for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA, and Rajiv Sood, M.D., FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon and Director of the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center in Indianapolis, IN, kicked-off their visit with a pre-review conference and dinner meeting.

Shown in the photos are Todd Hoff, COO of Crozer-Keystone Health System; Linwood Haith, Jr, M.D., FACS, FCCM, Chief of Burn Surgery at Crozer-Chester Medical Center; James Jeng, M.D.; Robert E. Guilday, M.D., Associate Medical Director of the Crozer Burn Center; Mary Lou Patton, M.D., Medical Director of the Crozer Burn Center; Eric Diehl, BSN, MBA, Senior Administrative Director of Nursing at Crozer-Chester Medical Center; Alisha Hartunian, MSN, R.N., NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer at Crozer-Chester Medical Center; Megan Stair-Buchmann, R.N., BSN; Cynthia Reigart, MSN, R.N., Burn Program Director and Clinical Director of the Crozer Burn Center; Geri Bozinko MSN, R.N., CCRN, Burn Outreach Program Coordinator and Clinical Educator for the Crozer Burn Center and Neuroscience ICU; and Deb Love, MBA, MSN, R.N., NEA-BC, Regional Director of the Crozer Burn Service Line.

More Heart Than Ever: TAVR Open House – Tuesday, November 12 at CCMC

Sent on behalf of Marketing and Corporate Communications

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive procedure that allows the heart's aortic valve to be replaced using a catheter. TAVR is an alternative to traditional open-heart surgery and now available to patients at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Click here for the event flyer.

All Crozer-Keystone employees, staff and physicians are invited to join us for an open house on Tuesday, November 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crozer-Chester Medical Center (please take the ACP elevators from the main lobby to the 4th floor). Representatives will be available to answer your questions and provide information on the procedure. The event will include information, an opportunity to tour the OR, and snacks/refreshments.

The benefits of this procedure are that it is less invasive and offers a quicker recovery and a shorter hospital stay than conventional open-heart surgery. Typically, patients are up and moving just hours after the procedure and return home within a few short days. Additionally, the TAVR procedure is an option for many patients who are not suitable candidates for open-heart surgery due to advanced age or other limiting health factors.

Did You Get Your Flu Shot Yet? Deadline Friday, November 15

Sent on behalf of The Centers for Occupational Health

The Centers for Occupational Health invites all employees to get their annual flu vaccine. Click here for dates/times/locations.

At Crozer-Keystone, influenza vaccination is mandatory for all employees, residents, advanced healthcare professionals, volunteers, students/trainees in a clinical setting, contracted clinical personnel, and physicians.

Failure to comply with the immunization policy will result in a written warning. If an individual is not vaccinated or granted an exemption within two weeks of the warning, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action.

Last year, we were able to achieve 100 percent compliance with this goal, and we look forward to the same success in 2019.

For additional hours, employees may also visit CK Urgent Care at Broomall, open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to present your employee ID.

Crozer Pediatrics Open, Accepting New Patients

Sent on behalf of the Department of Pediatrics

You may have heard that Pediatric Associates PA has closed its office on the Crozer-Chester Medical Center campus (suite 103 of POB 1). Please understand that Pediatric Associates PA is a private practice, and is not affiliated with Crozer-Keystone Pediatrics. Parents and physician offices are expressing confusion over this, and we need your help in providing accurate information.

  • If they are Crozer-Keystone Pediatrics patients, please reassure them that our network practice has not left the campus, and the office at Suite 205, POB 1, at 1 Medical Center Blvd., is open. The phone number to make an appointment is still 610-619-7410.
  • If they are former patients of Dr. Ronald Goldberg or another member of the Pediatrics Associates practice and need to find a new provider, please inform them that Crozer-Keystone is accepting new pediatric patients, so they would be able to continue care on our Upland campus. They can call 610-619-7410 for an appointment with Crozer-Keystone Pediatrics.

Ultimately, we want all of our callers to get helpful and accurate information, and we are eager to accept new patients if they would like to remain with a practice on Crozer-Keystone’s Upland campus. Thank you, in advance, for your help.
